About Me

I am a young wife and working mother (budding author, too) — trying to gracefully balance them all. My husband and I had our two kids somewhat early (and back to back — what were we thinking?!) so in a sense we all four are learning and growing together.

I’ve been blogging for quite some time now… back when all my Journalism professors were throwing major shade at bloggers, saying they weren’t real journalists. Now look… they’re laughing all the way to the bank (the bloggers,of course).

Some of my favorite posts including; how Beyonce changed my life and what’s it’s like raising a black son in America are featured on my former blog.

But I have since moved on to this…

With a Straw comes from my daughter — the little diva. When she was a young toddler — she would request all her drinks, even water, with a straw. But the more I think about it — that’s the very same attitude children embrace life with. No matter how insignificant something may be — even a cup of water deserves to be sipped and savored, with a straw as if its a lavish treat.

I don’t intend to be politically correct, I just tell it how I see it. Straight. No Chaser. Maybe it’s a little easier to sip it down… with a straw.

As my family and I take on life… like a glass that’s half-full.
